There are over 100 million searches performed a day and about 20% of these searches are new to the search engines. This is due to the fact that website visitors are learning and getting smarter about how they search for what they want online. The result is that people are searching for local businesses more and more.

Here are two examples that will help convey the importance of optimizing your website with local search keywords.

Scenario:
John lives in San Jose, CA and is looking online for a pizza restaurant that offers New Your Style pizzas.

John’s first Search:
John goes to Google and does a search for “New York Pizza”, the results are a list of Pizzeria’s in the state of New York . Well, John is in San Jose CA so this search won’t help him find a local pizza restaurant.

John’s second Search:
John realizes that he did not include the local city that he lives in when he did his search, so he goes back to Google and does another search but this time includes the city he lives in: “New York Pizza San Jose”.
This time John gets a list of local San Jose Pizza restaurants that offer New York Style pizzas. And this is exactly what he is looking for!

In Johns second search every website that came up on page one of Google had the Keywords “New York Pizza” and “San Jose” incorporated into the content of their websites.

In summary, it’s important to have Local Targeted content on your website so that local customers can find your website when they search for your services!

It’s a way of giving something away for free in exchange for a person’s name and email. Examples of UVP’s are Contests, free white papers, free calculators, free newsletters, and free brochures.

A UVP is a great way to capture website visitor names and emails to build a database of website visitors. This database will become your most powerful marketing tool. With these emails you can send your prospects and clients’ newsletters, offers, surveys, and much more. The result will be a two way communication with your prospects and clients, which can later translate to more business.

Some items to think about:

How are you capturing visitor names and emails?

In spite of having an extensive range of products that are sensibly priced, what is the reason for failing to see more traffic coming to your website? Well, the answer may be hidden in your website; in its design, to be precise.

If your website is not designed according to the SEO principles and rules, then you are not going to see many people coming to your website. This is so because a web design for SEO is going to help search engines to index your pages, which in turn helps buyers and searchers to find your website. However, the burning question is, how on earth can a person choose a web design for SEO? In order to solve this issue, you need to choose a design that complies with the following factors.

Code Optimization:

When selecting a design, make sure that you check its code, which should be optimized. For a fully optimized code, you should also pay attention to W3C compliance.

Pay Attention To The Visual Appeal:

Make efforts to enhance the look of your site, but don’t go overboard with the use of flash and heavy graphics. This sort of web design is not suitable for SEO purposes.

Font Size:

Most people overlook this important point and end up designing a website with unsuitable font sizes. The font size should neither be too big nor too large. However, make sure you choose a web design with such a font size that is suitable for your target audience. For instance, if your website sells insurance products to retirees, it is important to have a larger font size. The font should be smaller if your website is geared towards young audience.

These are just a few important features to consider for a better web design for SEO, but there are many others as well. Due to the complex nature of SEO web designing, you should try to get in touch with professional and experienced designers. That is a better way to put up a website that lures a lot of visitors.

Internet marketing has taken the world by leaps and bounds, since the inception of internet and its rise to fame. Social media websites are one of the most potent tools that grab a lion’s share in all the marketing strategies formulated by internet marketing experts these days. A social media marketing plan takes advantage of the viral quality of social media websites, and the fact that they have a good reach and accessibility. However, formulating a marketing plan for social media websites is no easy task and requires careful consideration. Following are certain things that should be considered while creating a social media marketing plan.

The Image: Before planning, you should understand the kind of image that you want to project in front of the viewers. This is important because internet makes it easy for people to research and study your profile and the associated pages. Furthermore, this is the step where the proprietor needs to decide the detailing that he or she is willing to provide. A properly detailed plan would include profiles of the product, service or business, and also a profile of the owners.

Target Audience: In any kind of marketing plan, whether it involves conventional media or new media, knowing the target audience is imperative. The strategists need to analyze the kind of people who are most likely to take interest in their client’s line of business, and then work towards reaching them in a way that will be compelling and attractive to them.

Targeting: Once the target audience has been identified, the next step is to figure out their preferences with respect to websites and timings.

Competitors: Keeping an eye on one’s competitors also leads to epiphanies for the client. Sometimes, a competing company may already have implemented a similar strategy, providing you with the lessons to be learnt from their mistakes.

Feedback: The social media marketing plan should also put into place a method to monitor and judge the impact of the plan. Furthermore, a feedback process should be introduced for the creators and clients to analyze the success of the plan and make required modifications.

Track: Last but not least; track the performance of your marketing plan. Be sure to implement an Analytics tracking system to track the traffic and goals.

Get your business listed on the Google Business Directory, the Yahoo Business Directory, and the Bing Business Directory? It’s like Free advertising. The more you provide the easier it is for customers to find you!

Market your business on Craig’s List. Put together 5 to 10 different HTML ads and post them weekly - It’s free and they work!

Make sure your website has a lead generation form so customers can contact you. Also don’t forget to give your customers a reason to fill out your lead form! “Free Quote” forms work great!

Make sure your website has an 800 number or your local number prominently displayed and easy for customers to find.

Be sure to tag your links on any online advertising campaign or eNewsletter. This will allow you to track your website traffic using Google Analytics. This will tell you what online marketing efforts are actually driving traffic to your website.

Be sure to create vanity url’s for all offline marketing, such as flyers, postcards, and newspaper ads. A vanity url will allow you to track offline marketing traffic using Google Analytics. This is a great way to see how effective your offline marketing strategies are and if they actually drive traffic to your website.

Find 5 directories to post your website information on this month. Then keep doing 5 new directories every month for the next 6 months. This will create over 35 incoming links to your website. This will help generate traffic to your website and also help with your Google page ranking!

Check how fast your website loads. Google is about to inject a new ranking factor into the algorithm – Site Speed. What this means is that Google will be pushing faster sites higher in the search results. Be ready!!

Give your website a facelift. No matter how good it looks, if you had it built 4 to 5 years ago then it’s time to give it a makeover. Your website will thank you and customers looking for you will buy from you.

Give your website some friends: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and a Blog will work. They are not only the most popular kids on the internet block, but they can drive a lot of traffic to your website. After all Social Media is the “New Word of Mouth”.

Happy Marketing!
